Fun-filled Saturday

Today was the first of three Saturday's in a row that Joe has off work. Not sure what this is all about, but I'll take it! And today, we made the most of it.

We started the morning out with the intent of heading to a few local antique stores to finish up the decor in the baby's room. We arrived to quickly determine that they don't open until 10...seriously.

Plan B - head to Home Goods and the Carter outlet store. Success. We had a blast picking up a few outfits for the kiddo, including his going home outfit. This is the first purchase we'd made for the baby, aside from nursery items. It was really important to me to pick the going home outfit together.

We were home before 12 and Joe geared up to partake in a fantasy football draft. I chose to work on the letters for the wall in the baby's room. I was able to talk him into snapping a couple of pictures between draft picks.

We also started our birth preparation classes today! Can you believe tomorrow marks 6 weeks left! Whew, this is going fast. We are certainly in the home stretch.

We also utilized the day to start hanging some of the decor in the nursery.

My, how Friday nights have changed

Life is certainly changing, and I know this is only the beginning. The changing table was delivered today so I decided I would spend my Friday evening putting it together while Joe is at work. Not too shabby.

I want to get some cute little baskets to put in it and give the thing a little more style and add the changing table pad, of course. But the bad boy is together.

I did go ahead and get the diaper stacker going. I love the smell of diapers and baby powder! I'm sure it will take the entire room over very quickly.

Nursery progress - the furniture is in!

We picked the nursery furniture up yesterday and Joe vigorously spent the day getting the nursery to the point where he could start setting up the furniture.

The changing table arrived damaged, so we are awaiting a new one. So far the nursery is really starting to pull together. Next step - let's get some decor up on the walls! We have several items already and can't wait to start putting them up.

And someone (Jack for those of you who don't know him) is already making himself quite at home in the baby's room. At least he's under the crib instead of in it. Looks like I have some work to do.

Pictures! Shower in Iowa

As promised, I have pictures from the shower a couple of weeks ago in Iowa. Here are a few of my favorites and the rest in case you're interested.

I discovered the heat and humidty made me swell even more than I thought. Oh well, enjoy!

We ordered the furniture for the baby's room today! Here's a peak.

It's scheduled to be here by August 18th. We will definitely update everyone when it's arrived.

Over the river and through the woods...

This past weekend Joe and I had the pleasure of heading to my parent's place in Iowa for our first baby shower. We had a blast and got to see a lot of people we hadn't seen in a while. Unfortunately, all of the photos were taken by my mom except for a couple. Until I get them from her and can post some, here we go.

We were originally going to take Joe's SUV to haul ourselves, our two dogs and the goodies for the baby. The AC just wasn't pumping out well enough for this mama, so we decided to take my car at the last minute. Which ended up being a really good decision because the thermometer read 110* as we headed through Oklahoma back to Texas. A little less space, but we figured we would make it work. My poor car.

A rock flew out of nowhere and SMACK. Poor windshield.

Well we got there safe and sound, only to notice the road work of Oklahoma ate my tire. Two had to be replaced while we were there. All worth it though, because the trip was great. Thanks again to everyone who was able to make it, we really enjoyed the visit.

We also had a monumental moment that weekend. For those of you who don't know, my husband can't stand vegetables. It's been a struggle to get him to try any since I've known him. I tried to coax him into eating corn when we were back in Iowa for our wedding. How can you marry a girl from Iowa and not try some sweet corn? Well he finally tried it - AND LIKED IT! Major victory! He may kill me for this, but let's share this monumental moment. =)

As soon as get photos from the weekend, I will post them!
