A Few Words from the Proud New Father

I don't know if I have ever been so tired and so emotional in my entire life, but when I was first able to see my son it made it all worth while and then some. We have really settled into being new parents, even though it's only been a week.

The first week was definitely a learning experince for the both of us and we still have alot to learn about being parents. At least we have started to get a little more sleep. I just didn't realize such a small person could dirty so many diapers.

Joey is as cute as a baby can be, and I am not being biased, he's just that damn cute. I have to go back to work tomorrow and its going to be alot harder than I thought.

We are both looking forward to seeing this little man grow up and start to crawl, walk and talk. Until the next update, I will being teaching my son to love the Cowboys, University of Arkanasas, and maybe the University of Iowa (maybe).

From the expecting father

38 weeks - we are so close that it could happen at any time. We are so excited to see what little Joey is going to look like. Will he have my nose or Crystal's chin. Blue eyes or webbed toes (my family has webbed toes, but it's cute not weird).

My mom has been here for the last few days after our high blood pressure scare last week. I want to thank her for being here to answer all the 200 questions we have everytime something changes and we get more and more anxious. Today we made our last trip to BabiesRUs and Target to pickup anything we still needed and the pressure was on. At BabiesRUs Crystal had to stay in the car. High blood pressure has put her on bed rest but she really wanted to come. I had to have my mom run diaper bags out to the car to see if she liked them. She liked the first one, thank goodness). We are ready!

From the Expecting Father

I was actually off on a Sunday and got to spend the entire day with my wife. After working eight straight closes and barely seeing each other, it was just what the doctor ordered. We went and saw Super 8 but I didn't tell her it was a science fiction movie, she was not pleased. We then ran some errands and then relaxed at home the rest of the day. We have spent a lot of time finding items to decorate the baby's room and last night we found some very cool vintage sports pennants - pictures to come. We ordered the curtains for the room to try and match paint color. I think it is really starting to come together and we just seem to get more and more excited. Well over half way there and only three and half months to go.

From the Husband

The anticipation is over and we now know we are having a baby boy. The ultrasound was, for lack of a better word, awesome. We also know the name, Joseph Robert Priest III, named after my father and myself. I should say he is named after my dad who continues to inspire me to be a great father and husband. We are truly thankful for having a very healthy baby so far. The wife, as you can see, is already buying things for the nursery and my to do-list is about to go through the roof but it will be alot fun setting everything up.

From the Husband

Only a week left until we find out if we are having a boy or a girl. We are both very excited to know and can't wait until next week. We actually went to a couple of baby stores this past weekend and I was definitly a little overwhelmed with all the stuff you can buy. They have fifty of everything and fifty more you order online and I believe we are going to be spending a ton of time deciding what to buy. I guess this is the start of the learning process for parents-to-be. Oh and thanks to the wife for a wonderful day off together, I wish we had every day off together.

A few words from the Husband

Painted the House, put in new wood floors, new back door. Probably one more day of work and these two huge projects will be done. Looking back over all the hard work we put in over the last six weeks has really paid off, I even impressed myself with how everything has turned out. A special thanks to my parents who, as you know, helped us paint the house. I am extremely lucky to have parents that will work 12 hour days 30 feet off the ground in 40mph wind painting. No new projects for a few weeks!!!! I bet I know which project will come next. In a few weeks we will know if we are having a boy or girl and it will be time to start the nursery. This one should be a lot of fun.
