Fun at daycare

I got a photo from Miss Toni while Joey was at daycare today. Apparently he was hard at work, just like his mommy.

Joey: 9 Months

Joey is 9 months old! And what a little personality he has. He laughs, he yells, he talks. He's a busy little boy. On the move, scooching and crawling - doing what he needs to do to get what he wants. And when he can't, he yells for our help.

Joey is weighing in at 17 pounds, 5 ounces and is 27.5 inches long. Apparently the scale wasn't lying. He may feel like he's gained quite a bit of weight, but the numbers don't lie.

In the past month, Joey has tried the following food: yellow squash, crackers, cheerios, peaches, mashed potatos, limes and ham. He has a total of two teeth and is using them to help mash things up.

Joey loves to play and prefers to spend his awake hours crawling, sitting and playing. He also loves his baths. We've added bath toys in the past month and this kiddo can't get enough splashing, kicking and playing with his toys.

So far it seems like Joey's favorite nursery rhyme is Old McDonald. He laughs with every animal sound we make.
These pictures are getting harder and harder to take! Mr. Joey is more interested in everything that's around him. This is as good as it get this month.

Fun new toy

Joey is rocking out with a new toy. The kiddo loves to beat and bang on just about anything. The only time I've seen one of these is at a doctor's office, but this kiddo is lucky enough to have one at home. Graciously donated to our kiddo by a co-worker. Thanks Katie!

I just want the animals!

Since Joey is a mobile little guy now, we installed a fairly heavy duty gate at the top of the stairs. And to keep altercations to a minimum, the dogs aren't allowed in the den when Joey's crawling around. Apparently neither party is a fan of that decision. Joey wants the animals as much as they want in the room. It looks a little like a jail cell.

Little Man on the Move

We've got a crawler!

Trip to Lowe's

We went to Lowe's today to price out a couple of projects and pick up some items to work on our new built-ins (details and pictures to come).

Check out our big man sitting up all by himself in the cart. This kid loves Lowe's (except for the cement aisle, must be a little boring).

Eating Out

I realized how little we actually eat out when we went with Joe's parents to a restaurant and I realized this was Joey's first time in a high chair at a restaurant. I have to say, he did really well. He sat there hanging out, playing with his toys and enjoying the table cloth the whole time.

Callin' the hogs - Woo Pig Suey! A Razorbacks fan, just like his daddy.

Surprise!

Joe surprised me with a trip to Jefferson, TX just the two of us for my birthday. He had been scheming for several weeks and arranged to have his parents watch Joey. We had our first overnight away from kiddo, complete with rest, relaxation and fun.

Jefferson is a very historic town in East Texas, known at the bed and breakfast capital of East Texas. We stayed at the Excelsior House Hotel, which was built in the 1850s. The room we stayed in was the Lady Bird Johnson room, which featured photos, letters, paintings and a clock from Lady Bird. I have to say, it was really cool. I have never stayed in a place that old and it had so much charm.

We spent the day, and a little of the next, walking around, taking in the sites, touring, antiquing, etc. We even took in a walking ghost tour! We really enjoyed ourselves.

Here are a few photos of our trip.

And I have to throw in a couple of funnies...

The sign on the right cracked us up.

There was a Corvette show on the street outside our hotel the morning after we arrived. Joe's truck was parked in the middle of the Corvettes...OOPS!

The picture may not do it justice, but this man was in his late 60's, black spikey hair (think porkupine) with grey tips = Forever Young

Trying to Crawl

He's trying so hard!
