Joey: 12 Months

Oh my gosh, we have a one year old! UPDATE: Joey had his doctor's appointment today (10/1). He weighed in at 18 pounds (7th percentile) and is 29.3 inches long (26th percentile). Our little peanut. The 12 month shots were brutal! Fever, crankiness and one tired baby. Hopefully he will feel better tomorrow.

Our busy little bee continues to be busy. He's all over the place - always on the go and quite the talker. Joey now says kitty, dog and no. As long as his eyes are open, he's saying (or screaming) something. Joey still isn't pulling up past his knees, but he will stay standing for a while if we stand him up against a toy or ottoman. He will put his foot down and we think he's going to try and stand, but he's not there yet.

We're right on track with ditching the bottle, although I think Joey would still prefer it over the sippie. We cave every once in a while, but he's almost exclusively on sippie cups now. We also made the transition to whole milk a few days ago. Once he got over the fact that his milk is now cold, he seems to be tolerating it pretty well. With this, we've transitioned to more table food and less milk - which is probably more of a transition for us than for him. In the past month, Joey's had been introduced to corn, pineapple and black beans.

Joey loves books! He likes to look through them on his own and loves for us to read to him. He will drag all of his books out, look through them and bring a few over to us for us to read. It's pretty sweet.

He loves to play with blankets and towels. You will notice one laying on the floor next to him in most photos. He likes to wrap them around him and spin in circles. We will get the occasional peek-a-boo along with it.

Joey seems to have an attachment with his sock monkey. He will give the monkey kisses, go get it when you ask him where it is and tote it along with him when he's playing. We tried to put the monkey in his crib with him, but he didn't understand it was sleep time not play time, so that thought didn't last too long.

He also loves singing shows on TV - more specifically, The Voice. He will stop doing whatever he's doing to watch the people sing and clap when they are done. It's the funniest thing to watch.

No change in sleep schedule - still 2 naps a day, 1-3 hours each and 10-12 hours every night. He's our little sleeping trouper - as long as he has at least two pacifiers in his crib at all times. Breaking him of the pacifier will be a challenge. It's a good thing it's a little while off.

Meet Baby Adley!

Joe's sister Melanie and her husband welcomed Adley Fair on Monday, so the three of us headed to the hospital after work tonight to meet the newest Priest baby.

Joey kept wanting to touch and pat the baby. He's not quite gentle enough for a 1 day old though. =)

Congratulations Mel and Daniel! We're so excited to have another baby - and this time a girl!

Mr. No!

"No!" has become a frequently used word around our house...by Joey. He says it all of the time. Sometimes when he's mad, about to throw something, sometimes when he thinks he's funny.

Kitty

Joey learned how to say kitty this weekend! So now he can yell at the cat as he chases them around.

Cowboys fan

Joey got a package in the mail this week with some new Cowboys gear. Of course he had to sport it for today's game!

Have I mentioned how hard it is to get an almost one year old to sit still?

It even has a football on the butt - how cute!

A big thank you to Uncle Dave and Aunt Linda - I think Joey's set for the season!

Playing with Daddy

Joe's had some time off before he starts his new job. My boys were hanging out playing while I was getting ready for work this morning. How sweet!

Grill Master

Joe's birthday was last Thursday and I got him a grill. He finally got a chance to put it together, so we had to test it out!

Who needs toys?

Who needs toys when mommy's doing the laundry? Joey will come from any corner of the house when he hears me doing laundry. He loves pulling clothes out of the basket and playing with hangers.

DIY - Fence

So our fence has been in bad shape for a little while. Recently it got pretty bad. a storm came through and ripped the gate right off its hinges. We put a board up to keep the dogs in until we could get to a true repair. Joe's parents came up to help repair and they did a fantastic job!

Before

During - you can catch a glimpse of the leaning and broken back of the fence as well.

The finished product

Almost all of the posts were repaired or replaced, plus new front on both sides of the house. Several boards were replaced around the perimeter as well, which will be a work in progress. A lot of hard work went into this and Joe and I much appreciate the help.

Sitting in the Big Boy Chair

Joey got a toddler Hawkeyes chair shortly after he was born and we couldn't wait to set him in it. He may still be a little small, but we're getting there!

A little under the weather

Joey had his first cold. He's been a little down and out for the last day and a half but is starting to feel a little better. Just a little fever, sneezing and runny nose. Despite it all, he gives mama a little smile in his Hawkeyes gear.

Pant like a dog

Well, as I mentioned before, Joey has learned to pant like a dog. He's heard the dogs panting and pants back at them, then laughs. He thinks he's hilarious. And, of course, does it all of the time now.

Big Boy!

Joey has become a master of the sippie cup. We've started to give him the sippie instead of the bottle for most feedings. Well on our way to breaking him of the bottle before he turns one.

Let me see you clap your hands

Mr. Joey recently started clapping. He'll do it on his own and on command. It's the sweetest thing, if I may say so myself.

Mr. Mimic

I was able to capture some of the mimicking mouth noises Joey does - the tongue click and tongue roll are featured.

Joey: 11 Months

I feel like Joey has grown so much in the last month. He's our little 11 month old man! My best guesstimation at his weight is around 19-20 pounds. He has an appointment with the pediatrician right after his first birthday, so we can give a more accurate weight and height update next month.

Joey had his first haircut in the last month and it's grown in a lot thicker since then. I think it's getting a little lighter too. Still brown, but getting lighter. It's growing a lot faster. He will probably need another haircut before his first birthday.

Our little man is one busy little bee. He's crawling all over the place and goes from crawling to sitting and back on a dime. He likes to squirm in circles when he's sitting too. I will try to capture this on video because it's pretty funny to watch. Joey is pulling himself up, but pretty hesitant to go past the knees. He will stand holding onto things if we put him there, and does a pretty good job at hanging out for a little while, just isn't there yet on pulling himself completely up.

He likes to mimic a lot! Mostly the sounds we make with our mouths - tongue clicking, tongue rolling sounds, lip smacking, etc. He's also started saying "Ma Ma" hi (pairing that with dada and mama), OY (I think he's saying Joey), dog. He's dropped the uh-oh, haven't heard it in a couple of weeks. He loves the animals and has started to pant at the dogs - another moment that must be captured on video.

Joey is doing really well with the sippie cup. I think we're on track to ditch the bottle before his first birthday (fingers crossed). In addition to the foods he's tried before, we've added: noodles, kidney beans, rice, broccoli, mandarin oranges and asparagus.

We have a great little sleeper. Joey sleeps between 10 and 12 hours each night and takes two naps ranging from 1-3 hours each. No real change in that from last month.

This month we've got a nice little action shot for his photo.

All he needs is a box

We brought a few toys along to Ben and Shannon's, but Joey loved the box. Once boredom set in, pushing him around in the box or just letting him sit in it and play with his toys is all he needed.

Meet Baby Eli

The poor blog has been neglected. Please pardon the blog bomb as I get caught up on everything that's gone on in the last week.

Joe, Joey and I headed down to Houston last weekend to see Ben and Shannon and meet baby Eli. What a sweet little boy and handsome new edition to the Priest family!

So sweet!
