Tummy Time Tunes

Joey: 6 Months

I can't tell you how quickly the first six months of Joey's life have flown by. I can't believe that in another short six months our little guy will be a year old. I won't get ahead of myself though, one month at a time.

This month Joey has changed leaps and bounds! He rolls from his stomach to his back more and more and will lay on his back with his head cocked to one side, legs all the way over, practically on his side, but isn't interested in rolling completely over. We'll see if he decides to do that back to belly roll, or just skips it completely and moves on to crawling. He will get up on his haunches and lift his torso up ever so tall.

Joey recently found his feet and realized they are attached. Since then, he loves to grab them, look at them, point his toes, etc. No toes in the mouth, but he's definitely a fan.

This kiddo finds everything hilarious. He giggles when we giggle, when he anticipates us giggling - you name it, he giggles. I love the fact that he's such a happy baby!

We have recently started feeding Joey more baby food. He loves anything and everything - although we've had to do some coaxing with peas and squash, he's getting used to the textures and doesn't seem to mind them too much. I make his baby food and look forward to trying new things. So far he's been introduced to peas, squash, sweet potatoes, bananas, applesauce and pears. This is in addition to the rice cereal and oatmeal cereal he's been enjoying for a couple of months now. Green beans and carrots are right around the corner.

Joey still loves the toys and activities he's been a fan of and has taken a recent interest in the animals. He loves pet the cats (both cats - yes Abby too) and Sam. He giggles when Sam gives him kisses. He has only seen Bailey from afar, which is mostly her doing. Not looking forward to those encounters when he's mobile. We'll see how that goes when the time comes.

I don't have his stats yet this month, but Joey is heading to the pediatrician on Friday so we will update accordingly then. **UPDATE: Joey weighed in at 15 pounds, 15 ounces and is 25.5 inches tall. He tolerated is vaccinations like a trooper, just getting really sleepy at bedtime.

Touch Your Toes

Since Joey found his feet this seems to be a common pose. He got upset with the tray on so we took it off. He loves to grab them, put them on things and point his toes. No toes in the mouth yet, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. Funny little man.

Weekend Project - Tackle the Yard

Joe had this weekend off work (YEA!) so we decided to tackle the yard (ick). The yard has been a bit of an eyesore. I am terrible about remembering to take "before" photos until we're mid-way through a project. I will do some digging but for now, on to the good stuff.

We ripped out the flower garden in the front of the house. Removed the old rock, built up the dirt, added mulch, removed a dead bush and added new bushes. We will go back and add some flowers in a week or so. Here's what she looks like now.

Joey came out to watch us work and had a great time.

We took Joey on his first trip to Lowe's. He had a blast just looking around in the garden section. He even grabbed onto a plant when I wasn't paying attention. I like to think he was helping us pick one out. Of course it made it into the cart - let's see how Joey's Pink Oleander does. I told Joe we can't kill that one!

A transformation occurred in the backyard as well. But, I didn't snap a single photo of it (Oops - again). I will get on that and post them soon enough.

Update, but no pictures...

The past couple of weeks have been busy. Joey was fortunate enough to spend them with his grandma. Joe's mom came to town to spend some time with the little guy during the remaining time before daycare started. I kept thinking the whole time that I needed to get a few pictures of Pam with Joey before she leaves - what didn't I do...one of these days I will get better about this! Other than what's already been posted, I've got nothing more.

Joey starts his new daycare tomorrow. We are excited about his going to Ms. Toni's house and hope this experience turns out to be much better for everyone than the last.

New Addition for Joey's Room

Joey got something in the mail today that is going to look fantastic in his room. Our close friend Leah put a lot of time, thought and love into this piece and it is awesome!

We went to Chuck E Cheese for a birthday party today. I didn't get a chance to snap any photos because my hands were a little full with the munchkin. He was all dressed up, kicks and all, so I thought I would snap a photo or two to show the little man off in his cuteness. He was less than pleased...

Getting ready for Easter

While my mom and grandma were here they took Joey to Hobby Lobby. He apparently picked a few items out.

Love of Grammies
